Body Portraits
An Expressive Arts Group
Using ‘Body Part Mythology’, a method of movement-based expressive arts, Body Portraits provides an opportunity for participants to engage in life themes and stories through the body. This group focuses on a different body part each week and culminates in a integrated body-portrait piece. Using drawing, movement and dance, creative writing, performance improvisation as well as somatic (body-based) exercises, this group offers a transformative experience for participants to:
• Expand physical and emotional well-being
• Develop a stronger body image
• Connect to others in a supportive environment
• Vision new ways of moving and relating to life
• Learn creative tools to deepen self-awareness that can lead to positive • change
